Identifying Wildflowers: Viper’s Bugloss

Common Name: Blueweed
Scientific Name: Echium vulgare
Family: Boraginaceae
Origins: Europe (non-native)
Flowering Time: June – October
Habitat: Roadsides, fields, waste areas; frequently in limestone soil.
Range: Found throughout most of North America, with a few exceptions.
Use: Was once thought to treat snakebites.
