Getting up early, before the rest of the park wakes and wanders onto the trails, is the best way to experience the beauty of such a natural environment. The morning light almost exaggerates the colours of the forest and wetlands, drawing attention to its shapes and shadows. The sounds are pure and intense and they surround you as you stand in one place to take it all in.
The boardwalk that leads hikers to the Quidditty Trail gives hikers a unique opportunity to appreciate various aspects of a wetland ecosystem. It’s also an amazing location to spot and enjoy wildlife, especially in the mornings and the evenings. During my walk through the area, I saw a Great Blue Heron, heard a Marsh Wren, spotted butterflies and dragonflies, and I heard a variety of birds throughout the forest.
