Finding local parks to enjoy is necessary during these times and one of the parks we visit is our own Bridgeview Conservation Area right here in Petrolia. The park isn’t very big but it does have a small pond where we can watch fish jumping, a Great Blue Heron fishing and Painted Turtles sunning. The pond also features a lovely wooden covered bridge which is now a walk way across the stream.
There are also some trails in the park that we often take Chloe on and she loves to find the trails of rabbits and deer that live in and around the park. The trails are in the process of being widen, for some unknown reason, which does make it better for avoiding as many biting insects and ticks but takes away some of the natural feel it once had.
During the spring and the summer I like to hike the trail and photograph, or film, the birds and wildflowers that can be spotted from the trails. Early one morning I did just that and found a pleasant variety of late spring, early summer flowers blooming and a few butterflies and snails that were enjoying the plants.
