Our five week driving trip to the East Coast was an amazing experience for all of us. Maya had a lot of ‘firsts’ during that trip.
Her first stay in a hotel. We periodically stayed in hotels during our drive out and back and a few times during the trip.
Her first swim in an ocean. Maya had swam in plenty of freshwater rivers, streams and lakes but never the ocean (to our knowledge).
Her first overnight stay on a ferry. She slept right through it and barely noticed we were gone.
The first week we stayed in Cape Breton Highlands National Park. It was so terribly hot that we spent the week looking for shade and water to cool ourselves off with.
The next week was in St. Anthony, Newfoundland. The temperatures were so cold that we were wearing thermals and multiple layers.
Gros Morne National Park was were we stayed for our third week. Wow, that place is unbelievably beautiful and diverse.
Across the ferry and a drive down to Shelburne, Nova Scotia for another week and then a quick stay near Parrsboro to check out the tides.
From there we decided that we were having so much fun that it would be a waste not to check out Prince Edward Island, so off we went for a long weekend and Maya adored Cousins’ Beach and the shells.
