While staying at Fitzroy Provincial Park, we visited several local areas, including the town of Arnprior. It was quite a hot day so we couldn’t wander around too much on the hot pavement but we found one side of the street was in complete shade so we parked and went for a walk around the downtown area. What a beautiful and quaint place Arnprior was. The town is larger than Petrolia, with almost 9000 residents. The town features a museum, a farmer’s market, public library, recreation centre, a movie theatre, parks and trails. We checked out one of the main parks, the Robert Simpson Park which has a splash pad, guarded beach, a goregous gazebo and even a snack bar! We found a nice shady spot to cool down and enjoy part of the day.
The downtown area was historic and colourful, as you can see from the pictures below. There is an informative 2.9 kilometre walk, called the Heritage Trail, that visitors can enjoy which features 16 different historic sites. Online there is a PDF map that also has information about each site.
