Tulip Trees and Fallen Oaks on the Pinery’s Carolinian Trail – Watch The Video!

On a cold fall day, Chitra, Chloe and I hike the Pinery Provincial Park’s Carolinian Trail after a wind storm. This trail is one of our favourites in the park when we are hoping to spot wildlife, especially at the pond either in the early morning or around dust.

The trail is 1.8 kilometres long and takes hikers up and over several sand dunes. The dunes are protected by having visitors stay on the marked trails and using the staircases that also feature viewing platforms.

In the spring the Tulip trees bloom with exotic flowers filled with nectar to attract bees in order to provide pollination. In the fall all we see of these beautiful trees are their uniquely shaped leaves that have turned to yellow.

Chloe continues to enjoy the trails, even in light rain and provides us with plenty of entertainment.

The Pinery is a special place in Southwestern Ontario, providing one of a few provincial parks in the area. The park features year-round camping, lots of activities for visitors in all seasons and an abundance of natural space to enjoy and to rejuvenate.
