Amable du Fond River Provinical Park is a non-operating park – which means it has no specific facilities, but it also means free access.
The park is an ecological link between Algonquin and Samuel de Champlain Provincial Parks in northern Ontario. The river is a popular canoe route and is environmentally significant.

The river runs parallel to Highway 630 that leads into Kiosk Campground. We pulled over near one of the rapids to do this video. We got great views from a snowmobile bridge we found.

I am working on my wish list for summer hiking and backcountry discoveries and Amable du Fond provincial Park is on it. Mattawa area is interesting for its rivers, landscape and his quietness.

Amable du Fond River Provincial Park is a waterway park (non-operating) for canoeists and conservation. If you are hoping to camp you can either camp north at Samuel de Champlain or south at Kiosk (Algonquin Park). The information page is kind of contradictory. On one hand, it says there are no activities or facilities but the activities list says there is backcountry camping, hiking and so on.
Let use know if you find good hiking and ‘backcountry discoveries’!
