North of Owen Sound, Ontario is the Indian Falls Conservation Area that features a beautiful horseshoe waterfall. The falls were named after the Newash Indian tribe that once lived in these parts.
The 15 metres high waterfalls was formed through the erosion of soft Queenston shale under extremely hard Manitoulin dolomite. The beautiful layers of shales and other rock can be seen along the steep cliffs.
The trail leading to the top of the waterfall is less than a kilometre long but the terrain is rocky and steep in places. The path isn’t wheelchair or stroller accessible.
Chloe thoroughly enjoyed the scents and the access to the river, which was flowing more than we have ever seen it. There isn’t a specific trail to the bottom of the falls and it actually is not permitted to go to the base of the falls.
