During our last day at Bon Echo Provincial Park, we took our 24 hour rental canoe out for the last time. It was a beautiful, calm morning on the Lower Mazinaw Lake as we meandering along the bottom edge of the cliff where it disappeared into the dark depths of the lake. Chloe continued to impress us with her calm enjoyment of being in the canoe. She seems to embrace the novelty of it and loved the different scents that came over the water.
How relaxing does that look? We have a pad that we normally bring with us, but forgot it in the truck. Dogs seem to get comfortable in the oddest positions and on the hardest surfaces sometimes.
The early morning brought gorgeous reflections, cool temperatures and infrequent motorboats. The two best times that we found for canoeing on such large lakes was early morning and early evening. Definitely bring your canoe or rent one while you are there to take in all the park has to offer. Also, if you want to hike the Cliff Top Trail, you’ll need some way to get to it since it is across the lake. If you don’t want to canoe, there is the ferry/tour boat option.
