After hiking a trail at Crawford Lake Conservation Area, we walked over to the park’s Iroquoian Village. The park admission covers entrance into the village, which has undergone some improvements since we were there in 2015. The village features two longhouses of the Turtle and Wolf Clan, which would have been occupied in the 15th century.
We loved walking around the village because not only were the longhouses in wonderful condition, but there were guides who taught you about how the first nations people would have built fires at that time, along with answering questions about hunting, gathering and family cooperation. Another wonderful thing about that we appreciated? Dogs are allowed on the grounds and in the buildings!
The village isn’t very large, but it is worth taking the time to experience. Even in the winter they had lots of things to learn and see.
