While camping at Mississagi Provincial Park we ventured off into some other areas to find other trails and places to explore. Just north of the park entrance we found the Flack Lake Nature Trail. It’s only .8 kilometres long but it’s quite beautiful.
The water was so clear and cool. I wish I had come prepared to go for a dip because it probably would have been so refreshing.
The day was hot but perfect for photography. Clouds in the blue skies with fantastic vistas.
After our short hike, we found a spot in the shade to have a snack and enjoy the views. Chitra and Maya cooled down on Canadian Shield.
Beautiful rocky shores of Flack Lake.
The trail went through some mixed hardwood forests.
Maya was having a blast staying cool and the short walk was the perfect length for her!
Gorgeous views across the lake with shadows on the mountain range.

July 2, 2024 at 3:27 pmHi there! I am planning an outdoor education session along Flack Lake nature trail and your photos and youtube video have helped me immensely with the planning, so thank you very much!
I was wondering if you could answer a few questions I have, since information on this trail is rather limited online. I am curious if you started the hike at the boat launch on the East side of Flack Lake, and then if you remember, which direction you travelled to come across the creek. Also, did you happen to see the “remnants of an old logging mill” that Ontario parks mentions is in the area?
I hope to hear from you soon!!

July 2, 2024 at 3:44 pmI’m glad you found and enjoyed our content.
We did start our hike on the east side of the parking lot near the boat ramp. Once you get to the river / rocky area you’ll have to search around for the part of the trail that heads back into the forest (it isn’t near the bridge). Once you find that part of the trail it is easy to follow.
I can’t recall seeing remnants of a old logging camp (as they mentioned on Ontario Parks), but perhaps we were too busy looking at other things and missed it?
I hope that helps. Enjoy your outing.
