During a camping trip to Point Farms Provincial Park, we ventured off on a day trip to a local conservation area. We had never been to this park before, but we thoroughly enjoyed the hike we did down to the Maitland River and back.
We started in the shaded parking lot near the now-closed Wawanosh Nature Centre. The trail crossed the lovely Belgrave Creek, passed through meadows filled with damselflies and wildflowers. We followed the trail down to the cedar lowlands and along the river to another small stream.
It was a beautiful path, well maintained and a gorgeous day to discover a new hiking trail fairly close to one of the campgrounds we visit at least once a year.
The park doesn’t offer any camping but there were picnic tables and a new, very clean privy. We highly recommend this park and will hopefully visit it again, perhaps in a different season.

The conservation area has three different trails for hikers to enjoy.
