There is some speculation on whether Einstein, who was a physicist and not an entomologist, actually said these words. Whether he said them, or someone else, the fact still remains that bees are extremely important to the production of our food. Bees are the primary pollinators of one-sixth of the world’s flowering plants (including over 400 plants humans use for agricultural purpose) that either feed humans and feed animals that become food for humans.
If bees stopped pollinating our agricultural plants we would no longer be able to produce asparagus, cherries, broccoli, cucumbers, cranberries, apples, cantaloupes, watermelons, pumpkins, almonds or blueberries. And let’s not forget the honey they make.
