We haven’t heard how Kirra is doing with her new family up on the Bruce Trail, but we often think about her and hope she’s having a fantastic life. We took her to many places during her time with us and as the current season turns to spring it reminds me of one of those places. In the spring of 2017, we spent the day up in the Lambton Shores area and one of the hikes we did was at the Ausable River Cut Conservation Area.
We meet some people and dogs along the trail and enjoyed a nice snack at the top of the hill before descending down the steep sandy hill at the furthest part of the trail. The trail is very enjoyable and interesting because it goes through a mixed hardwood forest and up and down sand dunes.
This trail has three extending loops that allow visitors to walk for a short easy path, a longer moderately difficult path or the more difficult 2.0 kilometres full trail. There is also a deck that overlooks the Ausable Cut where you can read about its history or enjoy the cool breeze coming off the water. If you have a canoe you can put it in at along the shores as well.
