In 1835 Ralph Waldo Emerson wrote an essay titled “Nature”. In this essay he suggested that in order to understand reality, one must study nature. He felt that people didn’t appreciate nature’s beauty because they were too distracted by the demands of the world.
To go into solitude, a man needs to retire as much from his chamber as from society. I am not solitary whilst I read and write, though nobody is with me. But if a man would be alone, let him look at the stars.
Emerson led the Transcendentalist movement of the mid-19th society.
