Lookout Point Trail is a 3.5 kilometre trail at Killbear Provincial Park.
The sign at the beginning of the trail states:
… this loop winds through a mixed upland forest to a breath-taking view of Georgian Bay. Passing through a variety of habitats, you will be able to examine natural life cycles and succession…
The trail was very different than the other trails at the park. The forest was larger and at the top of the hike there were fields that helped give some amazing views of Georgian Bay and some of the 30,000 islands. The trail was pretty easy, especially the beginning of the it where it was flat and had some boardwalks over wetlands. The path was easy to follow and, except for the usual rocks and tree roots, it was flat with a gradual incline leading to the field and a bench at the top of the trail.
We made it back to the truck just in time to watch the rain fall while we ate our egg salad sandwiches. The great part of camping is making the most out each opportunity, including bad weather. Enjoy yourself.
