Walter’s Falls and Mill is located in the town of Walters Falls. We went on a quick visit to check out these falls in 2005. I believe they were just in the process of building the Falls Inn which is located right beside the falls. There is a viewing platform that gives a side view of the falls, but to really see it you would need to follow part of the Bruce Trail, which we have yet to do. The overall view was a bit disappointing. If you do the waterfall tour, you may want to go here first unless you plan on doing the trail that takes you to its base.
Above the main falls there used to be a sawmill, feedmill and woolen mill. The sawmill burnt down in 1984, but you can see some of the remnants of it. There is also a beautiful stone church beside the Inn, which was built in 1880, and is still open to the public.
This is one of the many waterfalls on the Niagara Escarpment. You can do the whole Grey County Waterfall Tour which includes a total of nine waterfalls. The falls is classified as a ‘cascade plunge’, is 14 metres high and is on Walter’s Creek.
