Arriving and Setting Up At Rideau River Provincial Park

In the morning, at Fitzroy Provincial Park, while we were eating our lunch we had an unexpected visitor to our site – a young fawn. What a delightful surprise! We then packed up and headed to our next park, Rideau River Provincial Park. We stopped in a small community to buy some groceries and filled up the tank for $1.17/litre.

Rideau River had a very small area to park and register at the camp office. It makes sense since the park is quite small and runs parallel between the highway and the Rideau River. Our site was sandy and slanted, so we ended up parking the trailer more in the middle of the site. People were parked along the single lane, making it more difficult to back in. There was very little privacy from the road and other campers across the road so we decided to put up a privacy tarp. It was also helpful to block the bright, hot sun that was blasting our site when we arrived. It turned out pretty good, so we took some pictures to remind us how we did it and also to brainstorm some improvements.

We went for a small walk around the campground before dinner but we didn’t make it too far or for too long because Chloe was reacting to planes and other loud noises. After the short walk, we opened a few cans of Zoodles for dinner.

That evening we did laundry, took Chloe to a local dog park in Ferguson, which we highly recommend if your dog is good with dog parks. It was secure and enormous with a treed area, benches and lots of running space! We returned to the park and played Rummikub while some locals set off fire crackers nearby. Chloe was not impressed!
