Günter Grass was a German novelist, poet, playwright, illustrator, graphic artist, and sculptor who was born in 1927. In 1999 he received the Nobel Prize in Literature. Green was best known for his magical realism themes in his novels.

The Nobel Prize in Literature 1999 was awarded to Günter Grass “whose frolicsome black fables portray the forgotten face of history”.
