Exploring Silent Lake Provincial Park – Day 2

On the second day at Silent Lake Provincial Park, I got up bright and early to hike along the shoreline to capture some video footage. What an absolutely stunning hike! At this point in our visit I was wishing we had at least one more day to spend at the park so that we could rent a canoe and do some more hiking. I think we would have really loved to spend an entire day hiking the 15 kilometre Lakeshore Trail!

We had our regular breakfast and then took Chloe for a short walk around the campground so that we could see what the sites were like. That’s when we discovered just how few electric sites there were available.

Starting at the parking lot near the roofed accommodations and north beach, we hiked part of the Lakehead Loop / Lakeshore Trail. We stopped at one of the benches along the shore to have our lunch and enjoy the spectacular views and gorgeous weather.

The rest of the day was spent with friends who live near Buckhorn. We got back to our site by 9 pm and I started a fire. I set my bowl of popcorn down on my camp chair while I briefly went into the trailer and when I came back out a few minutes later… two baby raccoons were sitting on my chair, with the bowl between them, eating my popcorn! They must have really enjoyed it because it took a bit to scare them away and then keep them away!
