The MacNaughton – Morrison Trail is part of the South Huron Trail and is located east of Exeter, Ontario. We started our hike from Morrison Line, just across the street from the Morrison Dam Conservation Area. The nicely groomed, the four-season path took us through hardwood and pine forests and offered spectacular views of the overflowing Ausable River. Along the way, there were several lookouts and many spring wildflowers.
We decided to take the 75 metre long Stirling Bridge to shorten the 4 kilometre trail, but visitors could continue into Exeter.
We did not spot any of the white squirrels that are common in the area but we enjoyed the beautiful weather and the scenic views.
The MacNaughton – Morrison Trail is open year-round and would be great for hiking, biking and skiing. We will definitely be heading back to this area to enjoy it again, maybe in a different season!
