On our last day at Rideau River Provincial Park, we decided to take a walking tour of the small campground to check out the trail and facilities we hadn’t seen yet. The park was very walkable, being less than 3 kilometres in length and maybe a kilometre wide. After breakfast, we left our campsite and walked down the main road to look at some of the campsites and facilities. Along the way, we went past playground equipment, day-use areas and the two groomed beaches. We walked back via the one and only trail, the Shoreline Trail, which was linear and runs the length of the park.
The park features 200 campsites and very popular day-use areas that have picnic tables and BBQs. Visitors can also put in their motorboats or canoes at the park to enjoy the Rideau Waterway which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. If you are looking for more hiking opportunities then check out our previous videos where we take you on hikes through the local Ferguson Nature Trails. There isn’t a dog beach or pet exercise area in the park but there is a fantastic dog park in Ferguson, as well as water access at a boat dock.
Take the walk with us in the video below and let us know if you’ve ever visited this park before!
