Windy Lake Provincial Park’s Pet Beach Is Exceptional!
The beaches at Windy Lake Provincial Park were fairly close to the camping area, if you don’t mind a bit of a hike, downhill. Once we got to the beach, we were ecstatic to find an entire beach just for pets.
The pet beach was a great size and wass the same quality as the other beaches, which isn’t always the way it is. The beach itself was sandy and there were no rocks or deep drop-offs. The Recreation Area featured vault toilets, a water tap, picnic tables and a completely leash-free area.
The lake and beach were both very quiet while we were there. We only saw a handful of motorboats and the lake was large enough to drown out their sound. The views from the beach were lovely and would be amazing on a clear evening to stargaze.
There were very few other people and pets at the beach anytime we went, and we found it to be safe and extremely enjoyable.
Spend The Day At The Beach
Windy Lake’s pet beach gets full marks because we could definitely see spending the whole day there with Maya. We could swim with her and feel safe having her swim with little supervision. Most dog beaches are not of this quality.
The beach was so nice that we swam more than Maya on some days. I’m not sure if she appreciated that, though. Above you can see she desperately wanted to get back into the water to rescue her Mommy from having all the fun.
Check out Windy Lake if you live in the Sudbury area and if you are looking for a campground with an extremely pet-friendly beach. The park doesn’t have a lot of trails but I’m sure you could find some in the area.
