Cape Breton Highlands’ Lone Shieling Trail

The Lone Shieling trail at the Cape Breton Highlands Park in Nova Scotia features 350 year old trees and a replica of a Scottish crofters house. The entire trail is only 0.6 kilometres long but is quite beautiful. The trail is shaded with a babbling brook that winds its way through the Grande Anse Valley, which is one of the most protected areas in the park.

Our week at the national park was so hot that these were the only trails that we could go on for most of our stay. There are several trails that are well shaded with streams, rivers and brooks to walk in and for your dog to cool herself off.
