Dominion Beach Provincial Park, Nova Scotia

After visiting Mira Provincial Park, which didn’t have much to see, and letting Maya swim at Mira Gut Beach, we stopped at Dominion Beach Provincial Park in the town of Dominion. The park is a 1.5 kilometre long beach which has supervised swimming during the summer. There are also boardwalks that allow visitors to walk safely over sand dunes and among salt flats.

We found that the beach seemed more like a town beach, or maybe a conservation area, than a provincial park. From the strip of sandy and rocky beach there was a view of a power plant and there was coal dust on the beach. Along the beach we saw jelly fish, sand dollars and crabs. We did enjoy the walk along the boardwalks, even though they weren’t very long.

From the beach we headed to the ferry docks and waited for the ferry, which was over an hour late. While we were waiting we ate at Indian Beach and listened to live local music.
