Hiking Trails Near Rideau River Provincial Park

While camping at Rideau River Provincial Park, we had to look outside of the park for extra hiking trails since there was only one there. We found the Ferguson Forest Trails nearby and they were fantastic! We found the parking lot off of County Road 44 and had our choice of several trails that started at this trailhead. We decided to start hiking the Beech Trail and then come back on the Maple Trail.

Both trails were shady, well-marked and nicely maintained. It was easy to add different trails together to make a longer hike, or a shorter one. There were 10 different trails ranging from .16 of a kilometre to 3.9 kilometres. The park also featured an awesome off-leash dog park, covered picnic area, boat launch for the Kemptville Creek and washrooms.

What an amazing trail system, we were so glad to find it and hike some of the trails during our stay at Rideau River. We enjoyed egg salad sandwiches at the picnic area after this hike and then hiked another trail and then did some grocery shopping in town. We definitely recommend these to anyone visiting the area!
