The Pinery’s Short Pine Trail In The Spring

The Pinery Provincial Park’s shortest trail is located close to the ranger’s station and the Dune Campground. It is only .8 of a kilometre and fairly easy, although there are steps that take hikers up and over a hill, so it isn’t stroller friendly.

We don’t usually do this trail because it is so short and the park has so many other trails to enjoy, plus walking the long sandy beach along Lake Huron’s shoreline. It would probably be a great trail for older people, people who have issues walking longer trails or even people with young children. As with all trails in the park, dogs are allowed but they must be on leash and please pick up after them. There are garbage cans at every trail head in the park.

We ventured out to the Pinery on a beautiful May day back in 2015 and captured some shots of the trail. There were some plants starting to bud but there wasn’t too much more activity at that time. As with most trails at the park, I can always find some type of mushroom to photograph.
