Traditional Fishing Exhibit At Broom Point

After a day full of hiking and cool temperatures around Gros Morne National Park, we drove to Broom Point to enjoy the late day light and gorgeous panaramic views. From the rocky coastline we had amazing views of the Gulf of St. Lawrence and the Long Range Mountains. We wandered around and checked out the rocks that resembled those at Green Point and looked for marine life in the tidal pools. Maya, as usual, had to see how the swimming was. The protective tide pools were a perfect place for her to take a dip and look for things to retrieve.

This was a fantastic location and the perfect time of the day to explore and photograph it. We didn’t even realize at the time that this was an exhibit that we could have come to during their normal operating hours. The exhibit features a restored fishing community that was once home to three families between the 1940s and 1970s. On the site you can explore a family cabin and a fish store, as well as get a close look at wooden boats, lobster traps and other handmade gear they would have used.
