Staying Cool On Cape Breton Highlands’ MacIntosh Brook Trail

The MacIntosh Brook Trail is located on the north side of the Cape Breton Highlands National Park in Nova Scotia, Canada. This lovely 1.7-kilometre trail takes hikers through a mature hardwood forest and beside a babbling brook. For us, this was an excellent trail because our visit to the park was during a heatwave so we appreciated the deep shade provided by the older trees and the brook allowed Maya and I to cool down by walking through the shallow water. At the end of the straight, none looped trail, was a gorgeous waterfall that made the trail even more magical.

Later in the evening, after we hiked another trail, we came back to the campground that shares this trail’s name and made dinner before heading back to Cheticamp.
