A Windy Walk At Gros Morne’s Western Brook Pond

We arrived in Gros Morne National Park a day earlier than expected so we decided stay at the Shallow Bay Motel and Cabins in Cow Head. That evening we enjoyed Neddy Norris Night at the Gros Morne Theatre Festival which featured Newfoundland folk music and tales. It was very enjoyable evening and definitely highly recommended.

In the morning we made the short drive toward Rocky Harbour, stopping at Panye’s Bakery for some delicious baked goods. On the way, since it was too early to check into the campground, we hiked Western Brook Pond and checked out the fjord. It was very windy that day but a very interesting hike. Once we got the the boat launch area we were frequently told that we weren’t allowed to take Maya on the boat, even regular people thought it was necessary to point out that fact. We, of course, had no intention of trying to take Maya on the tour since we already knew she wasn’t allowed.
