In April we decided to pack up the vehicle and head north on a day trip to the Bayfield Area. It’s about an hour and a half from home and there was still snow on the ground, especially deeper in the forest.
This was a new spot for us to hike and we were really pleased with the quality of the trail and feel of the forest. We pulled into the community centre’s parking lot and weren’t expecting much. After getting onto the Mavis Trail we quickly realised this path was a hidden gem that we would definitely visit again.
The 2.5 kilometre loop led us through a variety of landscapes, over small bridges and one larger bridge until we were overlooking the Bayfield River. On the way back the Stanley Drain paralleled the trail and we were glad we had gotten there earlier since the ground was starting to thaw and become slippery.
Chloe the Foxhound had a great time sniffing and playing in the snow during our hike. She also had a few fun zoomies and was definitely enjoying the trail, like we were.
