Since 2015 we have purchased the Annual Park Pass for all Ontario Provincial Parks. This allows us to enjoy any park without paying entrance fees anywhere in Ontario, throughout the year. This means that we visit our closest provincial park quite frequently. We are also lucky that the Pinery is one of the few parks that is open year round for day use and for camping. The pass doesn’t allow us to camp without paying the appropriate fees (wouldn’t that be nice though?).
So, one of the many trips to the Pinery in 2015 was with Maya and we hiked the Cedar Trail out to the beach. The beach still had some ice and snow built up, but not nearly as much as there would have been during the winter. The trails were mostly bare of snow and it was a warm enough day to let Maya put her toes in the water.
For anyone who has visited the park since 2015, you’ll notice the signs are the older signs but with the new posts. I guess this was the year they were transitioning between the past and the present.
The enjoy being able to visit and hike year round and although part of the Pinery is closed during the winter, there is still lots to see and do. And don’t forget, you can camp at the park year round!
