Colourful, Historic Lunenburg, Nova Scotia

After walking the coast at Kejimkujik National Park Seaside, we continued north to Lunenburg. Although we love being in nature and exploring forests, shorelines and other outdoor locations, we also like to spend some time learning about different places and taking in some of the histoical locations on our travels. Sometimes that might be a walking tour of an old town, a local museum or even a guided tour.

In Lunenburg we had a difficult time following the self-guided walking tour of the old homes. The Yarmouth walking tour was much easier and more enjoyable for us. There were a lot of beautiful and colourful buildings but the powerlines made it impossible to take good photographs. I guess that’s why they focus on the doors?

While in town we bought some presents from some of the shops along the harbour and then had dinner at the Rum Runner Restaurant, which overlooks the harbour. We don’t often eat out on these trips, but the weather and timing worked out this time.

After dinner the rain had stopped so we went for another walk and found an amazing homemade ice cream shop! It was absolutely delicious. They don’t have a website but it was Sweet Treasures Confectionery on Montague Street. Highly recommended! We even shared some with Maya. It was her vacation too!
